Review Summary

Updated: January 7, 2023

On the surface, RoseHosting has everything you want from a provider: 24/7 support, free website migration, and a 99.99% uptime guarantee. Their primary focus is on providing VPS services for ambitious blogs and business websites, of which they have an incredibly flexible and scalable catalog. However, customers who aren’t yet at that level can find affordable web hosting that still comes with all the best support and hardware. In contrast, business customers can turn to the powerful and advanced dedicated cloud service to power their business applications.

Like most providers, RoseHosting’s shared plans are best utilized by blogs and small business websites and offer many of the hosting essentials with each plan. With some of these essentials being a free SSL certificate, SSD storage, cPanel, and 24/7 customer support.

Resources

RoseHosting doesn’t have any unlimited data transfer or storage plans on offer. Instead, they offer four hosting tiers starting at 4GB of SSD storage and 300 GB of data transfer and going up to 20 GB of SSD storage and 200 GB of data transfer.

The Basic plan is slightly restrictive with just enough storage and bandwidth for a small personal, business, or blog website. You can also only host a single domain, are limited to 50 email accounts, two sub-domains, and two databases.

Plans gradually provide more resources and to grow your website and expand your traffic. The Ultimate plan should be good enough for an e-commerce store or a blog that has gotten decent traction. With 20 domains, unlimited email accounts, unlimited databases, and unlimited sub-domains, it will also be more possible to host multiple, feature-rich, and business-orientated websites.

RoseHosting’s limits might seem low, especially the storage. However, it’s worth keeping in mind that most other hosts have limiting policies regarding their “unlimited” storage and data transfer and that RoseHosting offers SSD storage, which is much faster and more reliable than conventional hard drives. That being said, it might still make it hard to host websites with tons of images and video content.

Web hosting accounts also come fitted with cPanel, which should be a familiar interface for most of you that have had to host before. This powerful control panel also gives access to hundreds of free web app installations via Softaculous.

A standout feature of RoseHosting’s web hosting is the 99.99% uptime guarantee. This is a higher guarantee than most other hosts and should give you some confidence that your website will have exceptional availability.

Security and Performance

First and foremost, when it comes to website security is an SSL certificate and, thanks to cPanel, you get a free Let’s Encrypt shared SSL certificate when you sign up for RoseHosting.

Although not available with the other two plans, the Ultimate plan comes with a dedicated IP address. This is important to distinguish your site from others on a shared server. If someone’s website gets blacklisted, yours won’t be affected.

A great security feature is that RoseHosting offers free weekly backups. While this isn’t uncommon, it should give you peace of mind. It’s just unfortunate that they don’t offer any daily backup options, like most other providers, even if it is at extra cost.

Although it’s slightly mislabeled on the checkout page, you can get Cloudflare CDN for free simply by having a cPanel hosting account if you set it up yourself. However, RoseHosting charges a $10 fee if you want them to set up and configure a free Cloudflare plan for you. If you buy the Cloudflare Pro plan for $20, they won’t charge anything extra for the setup and configuration. This is a little bit of a low blow. Almost all hosts usually help you set up Cloudflare for free.

There’s not much to talk about in terms of other security features, like spam or DDoS protection. However, RoseHosting does claim to provide a Firewall for all hosting customers, which should give some protection against most types of online threats.

Customer Support

Just like any other customer, web hosting customers will have free 24/7 access to customer support. As the web hosting packages are fully managed, you’ll be shielded from the technicalities of setting up a hosting solution. No topic is out of the question when it comes to contacting support for assistance.

You can also contact support through live chat, the phone, or tickets/email. It’s pretty rare for shared hosting to offer all channels 24/7. Just keep in mind that phone support works via a callback method, so you won’t immediately be connected with an agent. That makes RosehHosting a more convenient option than most. You can also help yourself to the knowledge base if you want to solve issues yourself, although there are very few topics on shared hosting.

You can also upgrade to VIP support for $10 monthly or $100 annually, although this basically just means you get priority in the support ticket queue. Still, this is great for online businesses that quickly need to resolve any issues.

Pricing

With pricing that starts at $7.15 per month, RoseHosting costs a bit more than the market average. Nowadays, you can find decent shared web hosting for around $2 a month when the first-time discount is applied and about $4-$5 afterward. It’s also a bit high, considering there are no unlimited resources.

With only annual terms, you also have no other option but to commit to at least a year. That makes it extra concerning that RoseHosting only allows refunds within seven days. Most hosts give you a whole month to figure out whether you are happy with their service.

Purchasing a domain through RoseHosting is also a bit more expensive at $18.95 per year. The going rate is closer to the $10 to $12 range. Some good news is that all customers can have their websites migrated to RoseHosting for free. While this is relatively common, it’s not a given with all hosting providers. Another thing we can say in RoseHosting’s favor is that their pricing is exceptionally transparent without any temporary discounts or upsells that might catch you out.

Usually, RoseHosting does offer a 10% annual discount via a coupon code, but you can’t count on this being permanently available. While not exceptional, it’s a pretty substantial discount for yearly billing.

Final Thoughts

Whenever a host has slightly higher prices, the immediate question becomes: “is it worth it?” RoseHosting does have its apparent shortcomings with limiting resources and payment terms. However, it also has a lot going for it, most notably SSD storage, 24/7 support, transparent pricing, and a 99.99% uptime guarantee.

It might not be the best option if you plan on hosting or streaming a lot of media on your website. However, it’s a fantastic option if you prize customer support and stable/high-speed performance. With that in mind, it seems to be a superb option for small to medium blogs or business websites.

Server Configuration

You may not be able to customize server resources individually, but with nine different configurations, RoseHosting has plenty of flexibility and scalability to offer VPS customers. Resources start at 1 CPU core, 1 GB of memory, 30 GB of SSD storage, and 2 TB of data transfer. This scales up to a massive 12 CPU cores, 64 GB of memory, 400 GB of storage, and unmetered bandwidth.

Few hosts can compete with the spectrum of options and resources gradually increase in between, meaning there is a configuration for everyone.

Like their shared hosting, all configurations come with high-speed SSD storage, free weekly backups, 24/7 support, and a 99.99% uptime guarantee. By default, servers come configured with a free SSL certificate, via Let’s Encrypt, one-click installer, via Softaculous, and Cloudflare CDN.

RoseHosting also doesn’t have any explicit policies restricting the unmetered bandwidth, which most other hosts enforce. All RoseHosting plans are completely unthrottled, meaning visitors can access your website at the maximum speed the network allows.

You can also further customize your VPS package by choosing from several Linux-based operating systems like CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, and Elastix. Unfortunately, though, there aren’t any Windows options, although this isn’t too common anyway. If you prefer, you can also add DirectAdmin as your control panel of choice for an extra $5 per month (or $60 annually).

All VPS’s are fully managed, which means you don’t necessarily need technical experience managing a server to utilize it. You can also contact support with any technical, whether it concerns the actual server, your website, or any third-party software installed on it. This can be upgraded to VIP support for priority response times when it comes to submitting tickets or callbacks. Even though it’s fully managed, you will still have full root access to run scripts and administer your server the way you see fit.

Custom VPS

If the standard range of VPS configurations are not enough, you can always opt for a custom VPS configuration. Here, you can adjust individual resources between 512 MB and 64 GB of memory, 10 GB to 1 TB of SSD storage, and 1 to 24 CPU cores. You can double the maximum processing power and storage while you can go with lower RAM than possible via the pre-configured VPSs.

You also have much more of a say when it comes to the software installed on your system. ON top of the usual Linux-based OSs, you can choose your control panel. The options include a number of different cPanel/WHM licenses and DirectAdmin. This extra flexibility does come at a cost as a custom VPS can be 4x as expensive as a standard VPS plan.

WordPress VPS

RoseHosting’s WordPress hosting is based on their VPS packages with the same resource allocations and features. So, for a full breakdown, refer to your VPS review below. It’s safe to say this is a pretty unique option as not many other hosts offer WordPress-specific VPS packages, particularly with such huge flexibility and scalability.

While it’s the same in every other way, the main difference between this and the VPS offering is that RoseHosting’s technicians will manually adjust settings and optimize your server for WordPress. Making your server faster and more efficient, which will benefit both you and your future visitors.

As you’ll be hosting a WordPress website, it’s good to know that you’ll have a free SSL certificate for secure browsing. The fact that these are fully managed servers are also great since WordPress users usually don’t want to deal with the technicalities of setting up and managing a website, nevermind a server.

If hosting a WordPress website, you definitely won’t be lacking in resources as RoseHosting can scale to accommodate any needs. The price is not worth a simple blog or small business website, but it is appropriate for high-traffic blogs or medium-to-large growing business websites. Mainly because it’s a VPS, you should be in a better position to handle traffic spikes than typical shared WordPress hosting.

Price

Considering what you get, RoseHosting’s VPS packages are fairly priced, starting at only $29.95 per month. The most top-tier configuration can cost as much as $619.95 per month, but this is reasonable for a massive 64 GB of memory, unmetered bandwidth, and a fully managed server. With VPS hosting, you can also choose between monthly or annual billing (usually with a 10% discount coupon). While some hosts offer more flexible billing terms, it’s better than being stuck with only the annual option, particularly if you’ll be paying much more.

Sure, you can find cheaper hosts out there with unlimited bandwidth, but it might not have all the same benefits. It’s not every day that you get free migrations, cPanel, DNS management, and backups with VPS servers, which makes RoseHosting relatively all-in. Weekly backups are still free, but it would’ve been nice to have an option to upgrade to daily backups. DirectAdmin also comes at the industry-standard price, so no issues there.

Unfortunately, you will need to pay extra for the DirectAdmin control panel, although this becomes free with higher-tier packages. Most other hosts at least offer cPanel or some other kind of panel for free with options to upgrade to another panel.

You will still need to pay the setup fee to have support configure the Cloudflare CDN on your account, which is unfortunate as VPS customers are already paying a premium, and this should’ve been covered by fully managed support. The same 7-day money-back guarantee applies, which isn’t fantastic, but not all VPS providers even offer a refund policy, so it isn’t too bad.

Server Configuration

RoseHosting’s cloud dedicated servers promise the best of both worlds with the raw processing power of fully dedicated hardware coupled with the flexibility and redundancy of cloud technologies. In theory, this means you’ll have the best and most stable possible performance as well as high availability.

Unfortunately, you can’t customize your resources like some cloud and dedicated server hosting options. However, there are for pre-configured servers with vast resources – up to 56 CPU cores, 96 GB RAM, 2000 GB of SSD storage, and unmetered data transfer. That’s suitable for enterprise-level customers and goes well above and beyond what most other dedicated providers can offer.

If you need even more processing power, you can contact them once you’re a customer and request extra RAM or storage. These are also fully managed servers, which means you’ll receive a higher level of support than self-managed dedicated servers. While you’ll still need some knowledge, you don’t need to be an expert as RoseHosting’s support staff will help you with everything from enhancing security, via firewalls, routing rules, etc. to manually optimizing your server and software to installing updates.

Like the VPS packages, you can choose between several Linux-based OSs and cPanel/WHM licenses to be installed on your server. However, the good news is that DirectAdmin is now free instead of costing an extra $5 a month.

Price

Let’s not beat around the bush: RoseHosting’s dedicated servers are costly. Prices start at $299 a month and go up to $1199, making them one of the most expensive providers around.

However, keep in mind RoseHosting is one of the few options that offer this level of scalability and that fully managed support for a dedicated server is worth a lot all on its own. So, while RoseHosting does fall within a high-end spectrum, their prices are not entirely unreasonable.

You also get free server migration, a free SSL certificate, and a dedicated IP address that aren’t always included with a dedicated server. If you’re already paying this much, you likely won’t feel the pinch of ordering cPanel with WHM at $12 to $32 per month; or the $50/month VIP hosting. Customers can choose between monthly or annual billing – also usually with a 10% discount coupon.

Final Thoughts

RoseHosting’s dedicated servers might appear prohibitively expensive. However, they are aimed at a particular market segment with a budget to invest in high-performance, enterprise-level hosting infrastructure suitable for hosting the most demanding enterprise business applications.

However, with fully managed support, they truly are the smart option as you don’t have to be a hosting genius to manage an optimized and secure server.

Top Features

Highly configurable servers

RoseHosting provide a higher level of resource configuration than competitors.

Highly Scalable

RoseHosting provides solutions right up to fully dedicated server hosting.

High-speed SSD

All RoseHosting servers utilize high-speed Solid-state drives.

24/7 Managed Support

RoseHosting are among the top companies that provide around the clock, customer support.

Security

RoseHosting doesn’t provide too many talking points when it comes to security. For example, they don’t mention any proprietary mail (like SpamAssassin) or DDoS protection. The only security feature they offer right out of the gate is a firewall for all their hosting services.

Dedicated cloud customers can look forward to increased security thanks to the fully managed support service, which will configure a firewall, set routing rules, and provide other assistance to upgrade your server security. Even for fully managed support, that’s going above and beyond.

All that being said, the extraordinary 99.99% uptime guarantee should make you confident in RoseHosting’s ability to keep your server up and running.

Free Weekly Backups

With most RoseHosting services, you get free weekly backups included by default. This should cover you in most instances in the case of data loss. These are full server backups, which means they store all of your information, from databases to your website to server software.

Many hosts do allow you to set up daily backups at extra cost, which would just give you a much greater sense of peace of mind. However, cloud dedicated customers can set up their backup solutions based on the frequency and storage space they need. This is a convenient and unique option for high-end customers.

Free Let’s Encrypt SSL Certificate

A shared Let’s Encrypt SSL certificate is not only the industry standard but expected as the minimum requirement from any modern hosting provider. So, it’s no surprise that RoseHosting provides it for free. However, what does make them stand out somewhat is that these are available even for dedicated cloud hosting customers. At the same time, that’s not always the case with other hosting providers when it comes to VPS and dedicated servers.

Customer Support Review

With 24/7/365 customer support, a system status update, and a knowledge base, RoseHosting seems to have their bases well covered. RoseHosting is also active on most social media platforms and has an active blog where you can reach out to them or get updates about the company. Unfortunately, the knowledge base is minimal and doesn’t cover everything you could want to know.

Live Chat Support

RoseHosting’s live chat support is excellent, support reps usually get back to you very quickly and are forthcoming with all the information you need. While ticket support is preferred for support interactions, live chat can still be an avenue for quick answers or traction with any issue you might be having.

Ticket Support

The Helpdesk system will be your primary channel for getting technical support as a RoseHosting customer. Although it’s not immediate, you should usually get a response in under 30 minutes. At worst, it may take a few hours. However, the support you get via tickets is generally of superb quality from knowledgeable representatives.

Phone Support

RoseHosting’s phone support is a callback service. You dial the number, which will put you in the queue to get a support call. Still, it’s available 24/7, which is pretty rare for a hosting provider and especially for shared web hosting.

Support Tickets

Rosehosting offer ticketed support, which can be accessed via the Client Area.

Live Chat

Rosehosting offers 24/7 sales, technical, and billing support via Live Chat

Tutorials & Guides
